Lithe Audio launch unique Wi-Fi Ceiling Speakers

, by Sam Taylor, 2 min reading time

Lithe Audio are rapidly becoming one of our favourite manufacturers. As well as their constant commitment to improving their product range in terms of quality and flexibility, they have recently launched a world-first in their exciting new Wi-Fi ceiling speaker. You install a single speaker on its own into smaller spaces or connect it to a passive speaker to offer a wider sound dispersion across larger areas. Please see here on our website for further technical information.

Well-received by the Custom Installation industry

The speaker immediately received a short-list for an award at CEDIA 2018 and e-magazine Hiddenwires recognised it straight away as being of particular interest as an all-in-one solution.

Smart Home Geeks also wrote a great review, noting that the “Sound quality is superb”, and that “if we were looking for a whole home audio solution this is the one we would now choose”.

We too are finding them very easy to get along with. Installation is as straightforward as all other Lithe products so far, and using the dedicated Lithe control app to set the speakers up and configure the system is easy. Access to music is simple and quick, with plenty of options including online streaming services such as Spotify, internet radio and access to music on local devices and networks.

Airplay compatibility

Lithe’s Wi-Fi speakers are currently the only ceiling speakers directly compatible with Apple Airplay. We believe Airplay 2 and Amazon Alexa compatibility are to be announced.

App-controlled Multi-room audio solution

It is possible to install up to 30 speakers (or speaker pairs) in any single installation. Each zone is controlled independently, or larger zones of multiple speakers can be controlled at once by grouping rooms together. In terms of flexibility this brings the system in line with the kind offered by Sonos, HEOS or Bluesound, but without the requirement for separate amplifiers to power each speaker or pair. We feel they have great potential, and given Lithe Audio’s track record they are sure to be very popular.
